Carnations: If there is one emotion that can transcend the boundaries of time, it’s Love. Carnations are the symbol of deep affection and commitment. They are also recognized as God’s Flower. Most people strive to reach a point in their lives where they find happiness in a loving partner. It’s rare to see people find love in themselves and in the work they do. If carnations are a symbol of love, this piece is a reminder to find joy in your actions and everyone you meet. Only then can you find the love within yourself.
Navy: Navy is a powerful color that carries the weight of many aqua hues. This work is a tribute to the power of water in all its forms and just how important it is to keep us alive. Water gives us life, grows our food and regulates our global temperature. Without it, Earth would not be known as the “Pale Blue Dot”. The relationship we have with this necessary commodity changes depending where we stand. Here in America, it’s given out for free on a hot day but priced at a premium in entertainment. 35 gallons of water is used in the process for a single cup of coffee. Water can spark wars when in low supply. Water can take away land at a moment's notice. Water is the elixir of life but without proper respect, water can destroy us. What is your relationship with water?
Ciaran: This is a homage to the timeless ideals of honor, integrity and leadership. These qualities lie within all of us but only come out when we are pushed to our limits. We show our true integrity when we are at our last breath. We honor whatever we believe in until it’s betrayed. And we lead best when we know who to follow. Ciaran is a name of nobility and strength. This work is a reminder that nobility is within all of us. We just have to find it in others.
Verdant: How does one feel when walking into a lush garden? One filled with opulent shades of green, trees that shoot branches into the heavens, only to have a canopy of emerald green filtering a golden hour evening with ethereal rays of sunlight. I spent many days in my backyard woods pondering about world travel as a kid. I would rush to the hidden fire pit I made under such a canopy when the sun was setting just right. This work is a representation of those childhood summer memories.
Sahara: What was once covered by water is now a dry and arid desert. The mysteries of the Sahara are endless. Rumors of a lost city are deep within the adventure community but the ancient ruins of Ubar has still yet to be found. The great desert is a reminder that even oceans have a death. But there is a story in every skeleton.
